An idea was born

David Behrens, a real estate broker in Denver Colorado, hatched an idea to create a company that provided an online marketing tool for real estate agents. He approached the web development company I worked with at the time with his idea and as the project manager and developer I worked with him to architect and design this web based solution. Working closely throughout development we produced a cutting edge online tool for real estate brokers. This web based system had an easy to use interface and functionality that had never been seen before.

The company launched at a local real estate tradeshow and signed up some of the first users of the system. As the word of mouth began to spread across the industry here in Colorado, they slowly had agents signing up. Shortly after the launch in Colorado I was hired to maintain and improve the system.

At a large industry tradeshow we caught the attention of several key industry players (One of them being Gregg Toyama of Prudential Southern California). This began a relationship that would put the company on the map. With the launch of over 2,000 agents under a custom branded version of SharperAgent the company started down what would become a very successful path.

Together with the founder David Behrens and the rest of the team we enhanced the product and continued to gain users. We quickly launched a product into the mortgage vertical and started gaining momentum there.

With the exponential growth we knew that we needed to make a large technology enhancement. We needed a way to scale with the rapid growth and also reduce the amount of development time to deploy custom solutions. SharperAgent 2.0 was born from that need. It has an extremely flexible architecture allowing the system to scale very quickly with little development costs. It also cut custom development times by over 400% when deploying custom solutions. It also saved over 500% in development time when adding content to the system.

Today SharperAgent has over 20,000 subscribers and has launched custom solutions for over 30 real estate and mortgage brokers.

As the Vice President of New Product Development at SharperAgent I architected and managed the development of the companies first new product - Marketing In Motion. When launched in February of 2007, over 100 users signed up for the product in the first week. Not only did it have a strong retail release but many corporate customers also agreed to purchase Marketing In Motion shortly after it's release.
